How does it all work?

Australian owned and developed, Menu Champ was created off the back of the pain experienced in our own wood-fired pizza business. We’ve experienced poor customer reviews due to wait times, we have ran out of pizza bases, we have been overwhelmed with orders forcing food quality to be compromised in the name of quantity. Our very first night saw us with a line down the street and being sold out within 45 minutes, with the last customer served 2 hours after their order. We thought there had to be a better way then writing out paper dockets and looked for software designed for food trucks, and we couldn’t find anything out there – so we designed and built our own.

Menu Champ is designed for food trucks who pop up in regular places or attend large events such as markets, festivals and other events. It allows customers to order online (or in person) and be advised of an accurate food ready time based on your cooking capacity and current order queue. Other systems allow you to throttle by number of orders per time period, however Menu Champ allows you to control how many items  you can produce within a time period – perfect if your order preparation time varies from 5 minutes to 20 minutes such as pizza. If your orders can be 1 pizza or 5 pizzas, not much use just throttling by number of orders is it. Once an orders done, hiit the notify button and send a text out to your customer to notify them – no more buzzers.

What’s the workflow look like? You log onto your computer and set up the event details – things like your menu items, menu, location are all customisable. Set the time that you would like the even to open for pre orders, and the time that you want to start cooking. At this point you can send a text to your regular clients who order from your truck in that location via Menu Champ with a link to your ordering site and remind them to get their pre-orders in for the night.

To take and manage orders during your event, you boot up the Menu Champ app on your android tablet. The tablet acts as a register and connects to a wireless order ticket printer and square card reader. We use square for all payments, and it connects straight to your square account so we never handle your money.

Whether the customer orders online, or face to face at your event, Menu Champ calculates at time of order the customers accurate order ready time based on your cooking capacity and current order queue. Food ready? Hit the notify button and send a text out to your customer to let them know. Menu CHamp also keeps track of raw ingredient inventory and automatically marks items as sold out when you run out.

Whats it cost? $0 start up, $0 recurring subscription costs, $0 onboarding and training fee. We simply 1% of every order processed through the system which is taken from your credit card once a month. We also charge 10c per sms sent. There are still your usual square processing fees which you would be paying anyway – think of our system as a more sophisticated “skin” that sits on top of square. Cheap android tablet is around $500, bluetooth receipt printer around $250 and square reader around $60. We can help you source or you might even have these already. Sorry we don’t do apple devices due to software development restrictions on their platfom – its not us, its them.

So what do you get?

Customer Satisfaction

Provide accurate pick up times based on your capacity vs current orders. Then SMS customers when their order is ready. Provide great service to your customers! Stop guessing when orders will be ready, and start knowing. Reduce negative social media reviews and set the customers expectation at point of order.

Stop The Queues

Encourage more orders from the crowd when your line looks scary. Use Menu Champ to generate a QR Code and have your customers order on their own devices. Print out menus with your QR code on them and place them on your tables at events/breweries.

Grow Your Business

Heading out to a regular spot? You can notify your regulars via SMS and allow them to pre-order, providing them an accurate order ready time. Have a good idea of demand before you even leave your home base to go and set up.
Menu Champ does a heap of other cool stuff as well – remember we were once food truckers and built this from scratch so we’ve covered some pretty specific stuff. Check out a more extensive feature list here, drop us a line to chat, or watch some of our video demos here.
